Duncan...Beacon...everyone will miss you...

Duncan, Beacon... a friend...a fellow rugby player...a good guy...an ex-break dancer...a very intelligent guy...he passed away a couple of months ago. His death was a huge shock for me, it almost didn't seem real.

I have three specific memories of Duncan, the first was warming up with him before a school rugby match about 6-7 years ago. I was VERY nervous and I am sure he could tell, he told me to warm up with him (he was playing full back and I was playing wing)and he talked me through the game. He was a very determined individual who was well motivated, but above all in that second I could tell most importantly he was just another human who was willing to help another.

The next memory of Duncan that I have is of us dancing together during an end of term line dancing thing organised down lower school. Me, Duncan and another guy (maybe Tom Ball) were the only blokes in our half of the year with the guts to do it...this showed me that Duncan did not care about anyone else's opinion and that he was gonna do anything that he wanted no matter what!

My final clear memory was of Duncan break dancing in the middle of a Tesco's car park whilst we drove passed him...the fact that he did this in the middle of the night before heading down the pub for a drink shows the kind of person he was!

For me Duncan's passing shows how easy life can be taken away from us.

A footie match in his honor was being organised on the Mundays by his parents. I knew this was something that I could not miss...a chance to see old friends I have not seen in a long time, a time to honor Duncan.

Arriving there with Michiyo I saw Edd and Bobby, Bobby I had not seen in probably 6 years. On the pitch were some of my old teachers and rugby friends...

Laughs were had on and off the pitch...Mr welsh when he was clear through on goal and he slipped when trying to take a shot...Granny running out half way into the pitch and tackling someone (he was in goal!)...Mrs Mullholland running onto the pitch and taking a penalty of her own, obviously she scored!

At half time Mrs Mulholland made a brave and heartfelt speech honouring the life of her son and she then went onto spreading some of his ashes on the pitch.

Unfortunatley I do not have a picture of Duncan...but he will always be in my mind though. Rest in peace my friend...
