Authentic...

So yesterday, after meeting Stephen we headed to the Visvim a/w 09 preview. After getting on a couple of wrong trains we finally made it to the office/showroom.

The first thing that one notices upon entering is the huge space and calm feeling of the building.

After wandering the multiple floors and being guided by the ever so kind and knowledgeable Matthew we went our own ways to carry on exploring.

Later on I headed back down stairs and found Stephen talking to Matthew and Hiroki-san.

Could I just say what a thrill it was to meet and talk with hiroki-san about his brand in person. He is so honest, passionate and intrigued by the world, its cultures and what they can offer to his search for creating "authentic" products. For a man who has created such waves in many circles he was so softly spoken and easy to talk to. It was truly an honor and an experience.

My personal favourite quotes of his were...

"No Stephen, take your socks off." (Stephen was trying on a pair of sample shoes)

"I am searching for authentic..."

"If I buy LV, Hermes I don't know them. I know all about this leather...I spent a week in East Chicago finding out about it." (pointing to the elemdorf jacket).
"

Unfortunately I cannot put up too many pics of the exhibition...

Seenmy...

So I met this great gentleman today...truly a pleasure my friend.

Look for the incredible talent that is Stephen Mann in the future.

I hope we can meet again soon some where on this planet!

"Is it not weird that two guys from England end up meeting for the first time in tokyo!?"

Also the Lou Reed posters are up everywhere...with one poor overworked guy trying in vain to take them all down!

Visvim...

Hiroki Nakamura has taken his label to another level. Not quite designer, not quite artist, not quite high fashion...just a need for perfection and detail.

Many thanks to Stephen for the invite and love...

...this is for those in the know. See you there.

Back and rolling...(hopefully)

"Arashi no mai no shizukesa"

Time has passed so quickly and it is time to get back on track somehow.

Pictures for me are the best way to do this right now so here goes...look back a bit and you might find surprises.
